As your baby gets older and is able to sit in their highchair, they will want to pick up the food to see what it’s all about. Although it’s messy, try to relax and let them investigate. It’s an important part of their development and actually helps them get ready for feeding themselves later on.
Don’t forget that your baby’s tastes can change so although last week they loved bananas, this week they might prefer prunes. If they are rejecting food, try something else. Try to make meal times fun for your baby perhaps by tasting new foods with them.
Don’t coax, distract or bribe your baby if they don’t eat up all their food and don’t get into the habit of swapping something they doesn’t like for a firm favourite.
